Once you have selected your site, remove all vegetation from the chosen site area approximately 3 feet in diameter. Once the ground is cleared, rake the soil to loosen and make a slight depression in the site so that it will hold some rainfall, making runoff less likely. Spread the entire contents of this container (8 lbs.) over the site area. Do not cover the minerals. If you want immediate deer action on the site, wet site with 5 gallons of water after applying Antler1.
Reapplication: To keep the supplement site established once deer have begun actively consuming the Antler1, you will need to reapply every month. Also, use Antler1 in your active feeding sites to boost the beneficial minerals available in those sites throughout the year.
Picking the right spot to make a supplemental site is very important. Deer instinctively want to conceal themselves from predators, therefore we recommend finding a shaded area on the edge of a deer crossing where deer normally conceal themselves. Choose a site at least 10 feet off of normally active deer trails. Keep in mind that heavier clay type soils will hold the minerals for a longer period of time, whereas the sandier soils tend to have the minerals leach out a little sooner. When possible make supplemental sites near an available water source.
Deer seek sources of minerals for different reasons. Many times deer will frequent a mineral site out of habit and other times they come ready to consume seemingly as much as they can find. The key to providing a good source of minerals is consistency, so put Antler1 out immediately into your mineral sites to start patterning deer to your sites right now. Antler1 has natural attractant added to it to lure deer into your new mineral sites all year long as deer seek out the source of an odor they instinctively need.
It is true that deer actually consume different quantities of minerals during each season of the year. By instinct deer will pattern themselves around mineral sources that they can depend on to supply them with the minerals that they need during any given season. Look at the Mineral Site - Activity Chart below to see what to expect during each season.
